Cotton Pickers

America built its wealth on the backs of slave labour which was largely responsible for the huge expansion of its cooton industry in tthe 1830s. This original acrylic on canvas painting by artist Richard Hugh Blackford entitled Cotton Pickers captures the feel of the period in its depiction of the slave-labourers on a cotton plantation in America's dep South.
